Check for List Servers
This option creates a list of the e-mail in your folders to make it easier to identify the e-mail addresses of messages sent by list servers. You can then add the addresses you want to your friends list. All of your e-mail folders, except Trash, Outgoing, Spam and Suspect, will be searched. Messages from senders who:

  • have sent you more than one e-mail that is over a week old,
  • are not already in your friends list, and
  • have a valid "from address" and date
will be displayed. The e-mail addresses that are in the most folders will be at the top followed by the e-mail addresses with the most occurrences. Copy any desired addresses from this list to your friends list.

View / Get Blocked E-mail
Search for a specific e-mail message that was blocked by entering an e-mail address or e-mail ID.

File Transfer
Transfer Technical Support Information - makes it easier for Pageville to offer technical support. This function sends us data about your settings so we can troubleshoot problems.

Edit Menu

Friends
Click on Edit | Friends | Order (you choose the order to display addresses).
This list contains e-mail addresses from which you always want the messages to reach your inbox. Each address is listed on a separate line.

Each line can have words describing the e-mail source at the end. Source words are automatically added for the following:
ADDRESS BOOK
ADDRESS BOOK ***PREVIOUSLY***
OUT BOX
OUT BOX ***PREVIOUSLY***
The PREVIOUSLY denotes that the e-mail was previously in the address book or outgoing mail box.
You can edit this file to add or delete addresses. You can add your own source words to identify e-mail addresses.

OK Domain List
Click on Edit | OK Domain List
Domains should be listed on separate lines like:
   @osu.edu
   @propay.com
   @visualvision.com
After editing, save and close.

E-mail from addresses that are in the OK domain list are processed as follows:

  1. If a specific e-mail address is on the Blocked E-mail list, the message is marked as spam.
The e-mail goes to the incoming mail box if:
  2. The specific e-mail is on the friends list.
  3. The Pass Code is included in the subject.
  4. Nothing in the e-mail looks like spam.
Otherwise, the e-mail goes to the Spam Suspect folder and the suspect code is added to the subject. The default suspect code is **SUSPECT**.

Blocked E-mail
Click on Edit | Blocked E-mail
This opens a list in Notepad that you can edit. These e-mail addresses or domains will always be marked spam, and sent to the spam folder. List each e-mail that you want to block on a separate line. Enter an asterisk (*) as the name part of an e-mail address to block an entire domain. Example: *@spammers.com. After editing the list, save the file and close.

The same Blocked E-mail list applies to all e-mail accounts on the computer.

Outlook Express provides another way to block messages from e-mail addresses. Just select an e-mail and then click on Message | Block Sender. These addresses will also be added to your My Spam Gone Blocked list.

Bad Words
Click on Edit | Bad Word List
This is the "bad words" file. If a word in this list is found in an e-mail's subject or body, the e-mail is marked as spam. A standard list is provided (filename). You may add your own words here. After editing, save and close.

Good Words
Click on Edit | Good Word List
Adding words to this file can significantly decrease the number of permission e-mails you send out. Incoming e-mail messages containing words on your Good List will be assigned a value. If the value is 10 or greater, the e-mail will go to your inbox. If the value is less than 10, and the message has other indications that it is spam, a permission e-mail will be sent.

The words on your Good List can be assigned a weighted value. The default value for each word is 5. You can assign values from 1 to 10 for each word on your list. For example: if you sell sailboats, words on your good list might include:

sailboat 9
sail 8
boat 8
rudder 5
mast 5
If you find that a word on your Good List is letting in more spam than valid messages, simply remove it from the list or lower its value. Unless the message looks like spam for another reason, it will go to your inbox. After editing, save and close.

Permission Message
Click on Edit | Permission Message
The permission message is sent to people who are not on your friends list, and whose messages do not look like spam. The default message is:
Your e-mail message was not delivered because of the following:

1. You are not registered in my e-mail list.
2. The message appears as spam--most likely because it contains graphics or links.

If you want to reach me, please resend the message and add "PassCode" to the subject and your message will be delivered. Thank you for your help as I try to reduce the spam e-mail that I am receiving.

You can change the message at any time.
